Monografia prezentuje strategię i wskazuje uwarunkowania budowania świadomości narodowej w Polsce i w Niemczech w odniesieniu do postrzegania regionu peryferyjnego przez środowiska zewnętrzne i przyjmowania elementów nowego obrazu skonstruowanego na obszarach centralnych przez społeczność terenów peryferyjnych. Przyjmuje hipotezę, że wizerunek regionów peryferyjnych tworzony w regionach centralnych w dyskursie kulturowo-społecznym nabierał cech narodowych, budując spójny i jednolity obraz państwa, zarówno z perspektywy ogólnopolskiej, jak i ogólnoniemieckiej.The Centre ` Peripheries ` Nation. Determinants in Poland and Germany in the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th centuryThe monograph presents the strategy and the determinants of building national awareness in Poland and Germany concerning peripheries with regard to their perception by outer environments, which, in turn, adopt a new view constructed in central regions by periphery communities. It formulates a hypothesis that the image of peripheries, created in the socio-cultural discourse in central regions, displays national traits, which create a coherent and consistent image of the state, both from the Polish and German perspective.
